Extra virgin olive oil has a higher smoke point than you might think and can be used for cooking without any problems. If the food is placed in the pan immediately with the oil at the start of cooking, the smoke point (harmful to health) is reached less quickly. Olive oil loses some of its properties when cooking, but it has so many and is much healthier than butter.

The shelf life of olive oil generally ranges from 24 to 48 months. It depends on several factors, including the quality of the oil and storage conditions. To ensure freshness, it is essential to store it in a cool, dark place and away from direct sunlight.
In general, high-quality olive oils, especially those in the extra virgin category, tend to have a longer shelf life due to their higher antioxidant content.
Olive oils can deteriorate and become rancid over time, altering their quality and flavor. It is recommended to check the appearance, smell and taste of olive oil regularly to ensure that it has not gone rancid.
Regarding balsamics, they have an indefinite shelf life due to their acidic nature , meaning they do not expire in the traditional sense like perishable food products. However, their quality can decline over time, especially if they are stored improperly. It is therefore recommended to store them in a cool, dark place and away from direct sunlight to maintain their optimal flavor.
We recommend storing them in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight to maintain their optimal flavor. For example, a pantry.
For nut oils, it is recommended to keep them in the refrigerator.
The olive oil used for our flavored varieties comes from Jaen, Spain. When it comes to extra virgin olive oils, it varies enormously. You can see their origin under each product sheet.
Regarding the balsamics, they come from Modena, Italy.
Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids that can solidify at low temperatures, leading to the formation of fat crystals. These crystals are what you observe when olive oil sets in cold conditions. However, this does not affect the quality of the oil or compromise its nutritional properties or taste . Once the oil returns to room temperature, it becomes liquid again and ready to use.
